Hey Mark,
I have an APC 2200XL with an extra batter pack. 175lbs worth of back-up.
The main unit weighs in at 125lbs and the battery pack weighs 50lbs. You can
add up to ten extra battery packs to the APC 2200XL. This is a real sweet
setup because if your load goes up or you need more backup capacity all you
do is add some more battery packs. The main unit goes for around $1200-$1400
and the battery packs go for $350 last time I checked. I got this setup
because I was living in the north Georgia mountains near Gainesville. Lots
of power problems. If you order any UPS try to get it locally. They will
kill you with shipping costs. I special ordered my from a consultant in
Atlanta, GA. He charged me more than the on line sellers would but he did
not charge me any shipping. So I was cheaper. Also note that this takes a
dedicated 30 amp circuit.
