I've completed the install of Mandrake 9 beta 1 on my spare drive here at the office. I'm currently playing with KDE 3.0.2 as Gnome 2.0 is really really broken. I strongly recommend against anyone using gnome 2.0 at least on mdk9b1. Although gnome is pretty, it's broken....
KDE however seems to be functioning ok thus far. I will continue to report, and hope if I mention some issues that other have figured out they will kindly post them as well. Although I am not a huge KDE fan, I'm finding myself taking a liking to it. Of course it'll have to be stripped of all the default junk, but that is true of any OS. At least Xmms works :)
KDE seems to be running a lot smoother. I should note that it is running on top of XFree86 4.2.0 which has shown to be very nice IMHO. I am struck by the choice of making KDE look like winblows, Unix, KDE or MacOS. This might make it easier for some of the norms to move to the dark side with the rest of us.
Since the day is about over I'm going to pause here, but will continue this when I start playing with it again
