Hello.

Just came off digest.

So you used an RPM as opposed to the tar.gz at the authors
http://cr.yp.to/qmail.html site.

That means it's unsupported by the author and frowned on in the qmail mailing
list.
I don't support RPM variants either I'm afraid.

If you go for the tar.gz, then use http://www.lwq.org/ Life With qmail and
throw the RPM docs away. Do not cross refer or you'll run into problems.

For someone here to help you, you need to supply more info.

Linux dist + kernel
Web site the RPM came from.
qmailctl

There is a searchable archive at http://msgs.securepoint.com/qmail/ amongst
other places (do a search at yahoo/google with qmail archive).

A word of warning.

You can, of course, join the qmail mailing list, but before you post, make
sure you have read and tried everything in the docs before you post.
I know there are a few RPM users there, but due to support problems and lack
of info, it can get rough if you ask qmail RPM questions, particularly if you
don't supply enough info.
You may just get a "ask the RPM maintainer". A few regular individuals will
be less complimentary.

Use the archives first !!!

If you wish to stick with the RPM, I suggest you go to the packagers site and
see if they have a mailing list and FAQ.

The problem with qmail RPM's is that :

a) There is more than one
b) They change default locations

If you reference other qmail docs, you will get confused very quickly unless
you are experienced enough to notice the differences.

That may not seem too helpful, but it may give you a lead. Print out the docs
you have and browse them.
