Re: Scott's remarks:
This morning I issued command: smbclient -L //pdc
Response: added interface ip=10.10.12.55 bcast=10.10.12.255
nmask=255.255.255.0
connection to pdc failed
* I can ping from/to samba ok
* On my nt box I can browse to HUMPHRY and pull up the
smb.conf file there via word on my nt box. So, samba
is available to other machines.
* How do I run this failed connection problem down?
Re: Ian's remarks.
1. SFU not needed - ok.
2. All NT workstations and servers are SP 6a and I'm not messing with
our 98/95 boxes so I think I'm ok there.
3. Username: I'm logged onto samba as root. A username of root exists
on the nt pdc. Passwords are same. That should be ok??
This linux installation is RH 7.2 and I can't find a syslog anywhere??
* Last few lines in log.nmbd are:
[2002/07/31 16:21:42, 0] nmbd/nmbd_logonnames.c:add_logon_names(158)
add_domain_logon_names:
Attempting to become logon server for workgroup LFRG-TLH on subnet

[2002/07/31 16:21:46, 0]
nmbd/nmbd_logonnames.c:become_logon_server_success(116)
become_logon_server_success: Samba is now a logon server for workgroup
LFRG-TLH on subnet 10.10.12.55
* last few in log.smbd are:
[2002/08/01 08:22:29, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl(1798)
call_nt_transact_ioctl: Currently not implemented.
Got any ideas?
Again, many thanks.
John
