I always chmod 4755 /bin/* /sbin/* /usr/bin/* /usr/sbin/* and
/usr/X11R6/bin/* on a fresh install, makes it easier to delete files and
"stuff" without having to su.
(I'm just kidding) haha
Seriously, smbmount is the only bin I've ever had to run as root. If you
have to chmod more than that to use LinNeighborhood then I'd call that a
bad application. I simply make mountpoints in my home directory, and
smbmount to them. To be safe, I'd recommend creating an smbusers group,
chowning smbmount to root:smbusers, chmod it 4750, and then add your
user account to that group.
