I tend to use LILO in most cases, because it is often the default, and is easy to configure. I only use Grub on one machine, because it has, for external reasons, an odd partition scheme, which LILO didn't particularly like. Grub seems a little more flexible with regard to booting from odd places on the drive (e.g. one of 12 logical partitions, somewhere around cylinder 3000), but both applications share a lot of functionality.
Hope this helps,
Levi
