I've been away from linux for awhile, and have the bug again. I installed
Red Hat 8.0 and am trying to get
gnome rpm to operate.
My specific problem appears to be something with where the actual
configuration file is located.
When I select the GUI panel "operations/preferences/distributions" it is
completely blank.
If I try to do a WEB FIND and select some package, it gives the message "no
packages to download".
It appears that the configuration file is simply non existant, or is blank.
If I try to enter something into the "distributions" panel, gnomerpm gives
the "crash" panel and terminates.
Just for grins, I put my old RH 7.1 HD in the PC and tried the exact same
thing, and got exactly the same results.
The last time I actually remember using this tool was back on release RH
6.0, and I do not remember having to configure anything.
Looking at the Red Hat site, they show all these pannels, and they have
information already in them, which makes me believe I have left something
out along the way.
Here is a link to the RH site that has the panel displayed. It is the very
last panel that is totally blank on my system.

pm-config.html
I am in root, and I am using the GUI gnome interface. I checked the file
etc/rpmfind.conf and it has information in it, that looks a lot like what
you see on the Red Hat site, but it is not being displayed on my system.
Is there a different configuration file for gnome rpm that I have to do
something with?
Is there some very obvious thing I am missing?
The package is "gnomerpm.0.96"
