How does the damage look? Circuit traces peeled off the board? If the socket
has pins soldered to plated-through holes, and those holes were ripped from
the board, you could be SOL. Plated-through holes often connect circuits from
various layers of the board. If the circuit board itself has been fractured,
the motherboard is probably toast.
On the other hand, if the damage is mostly lifted surface mount solder lands
and lifted traces, you can fix that. Between re-bonding lifted lands and
circuits with epoxy or running jumper wires, you can restore the circuitry
and get back into business.
I can track down repair methods from an electronics industry manual
(IPC-7721) if you need tips on putting the pieces back together. They cover
all kinds of repairs so you can restore it to a "like new" condition.
