This is correct. I figured a way around this one, though, with the help of
Earthlink's tech support. (Shameless plug for them, BTW, as they all seem to
know Linux, and were able to assist me without flinching when I told them I
use kmail...) They told me I could use smtpauth.earthlink.net along with my
username (my full email address) and password. I used Mozilla to send email
over the last few days, since it has an easy way to set up using smtp, with a
username/password combo. I don't particularly like using Mozilla, since I
don't know if it encrypts my username/password. Exim does though...and
earthlink's smtpauth server can handle it, too. Kmail doesn't have a spot for
inserting user/pass the way Mozilla does. ah well....
