I'm definitely not the admin. lovebug is the main nameserver for the school
district of pasco county. As for talking to the DNS admin, that's like
pulling teeth.

Well, brainy is the hostname, and it's on a private ip address (the 10.x.x.x
variety). The machine itself thinks it's brainy.pasco.k12.fl.us, but there's
no way to ID it that way by anyone else. The domain is pasco.k12.fl.us.

Having said that, I would like to set up brainy to run DNS locally (within
the school where I volunteer)...I've read the DNS HOWTO, but I'm still
confused by most of what it says. I'm more of a recipe guy than a chef...
