If you use a rpm based distro, you can fetch rpms for Smartsuite, a package
that Ian Blenke discussed a couple days ago on this list, from rpmfind.net
There are mandrake and PLD (polish linux distribution) packages there. The
mandrake rpms are really for mandrake as the dependencies call for a
particular mandrake app. The PLD packages will work on the latest SuSE, and
probably RedHat, with modification of a file location and script. PLD is not
lsb compliant and has some of its own particular tools. I have corrected the
script and relocated it to /etc/init.d/smartd, rather than
/etc/init.d/init.d/smartd where the pld rpm puts it. It now works on SuSE
8.1 by putting the script path appended with start into
/etc/init.d/boot.local
If you want to install smartsuite-2.1-3.i386.rpm and would like my script,
please email me offlist. While it works on my box, I cannot make any
guarantees how it will on yours. If you notice any errors in the script,
please email about it.
