I'm looking for some suggestions/opinions on home networking. Currently I have
2 different cable IP drops(2 separate cable modems and 2 cable lines) hence I
have a cable bill for just computer access of a little over 100 bucks a
month(tax etc). We (translates, mostly wife) decided that one cable shared
will suffice. I have looked ever so slightly into this. I do have a linksys 4
port that works really great but I really don't want to be drilling holes and
slinging wire into the other room for the other puters, so I am looking for
either a wireless(I would think 802.11b since there is no interference from
phones and microwave--cant be said for .11g or .11a) or HPNA.
I would like to know if anyone is using either of these and opinions. I am not
all that concerned about the speed if there is a marginal difference but not
looking for a snail either, would prefer to keep close to the base cable xfer
rates. One room will have one, possibly another computer that will need
internet access. The other room ( on the other side of the house -- guess who
gets to spend time there!) will have 3 computers- 2 with internet access. For
these I would assume I could use the linksys ethernet firewall/router and
would only need to get a line to it to provide the net access to the boxes
cabled to it.

   Thanks,
   A J
