what technologies are involved?
ie.. network - internet - network
Or are you talking subnets?
What's it going to be used for?
ie.. teleconferencing, general business usage,
streaming media?

Generally, if you have one lan that needs connectivity
to another over a distance one would use a VPN to
connect them running over whatever connection you have
the money to pay for. Of course if you have the
funding you could get dedicated leased lines running
between to the two, but it does have a distance limit.
And this kind of solution if IMHO not worth the
massive costs involved when it is possible to do the
same things over VPN. Whatever your tastes, money is
the limiting factor :)
