I don't think that you will do any good with X 4.x and trident
drivers. My experience has been that the trident drivers are messed up
in the 4.x versions of X. I had to use either version 3.3 with the
trident drivers, or the unlisted svga driver and X 4.0 when I was using
a 760. Maybe they work in 4.1 now, but I haven't seen anything in the
laptop groups mentioning whether or not the problem has been fixed.

Is your XL a DSTN display or TFT? If it is a TFT, choose any of the
IBM TFT monitors. It had been a while since I have used a DSTN, and I
forget which one it is for the DSTN. Take a look at the Linux on Laptop
page, there used to be a lot of good info there.

    Good luck!
