[SLUG] Lycoris for a friend

Hello all,

I'm a computer science major and have been using RedHat GNU/Linux for
about a year exclusively on my own computers. I have frequent debates
with my roommate on the merits of a GNU system (he's a psych major and
tends to have different views than me). He was recently hacked on his
Windows 2k system and agreed to try GNU/Linux on a dual-boot basis.

I enjoy the power I get using a console, development tools and the like.
I know RedHat doesn't conform to all the Unix standards but when I
started it was closer to my level than something like Slackware or
Debian. He's looking for something a little simpler to use, less
compiling, fewer rpm hassles(DVD, mp3, and NTFS support out of the box),
and I've heard good things about Lycoris as distro for people who are in
need of simplicity.

Are there any issues with Lycoris as a stable desktop environment for
someone who is new using GNU/Linux?

He's more advanced than my parents, but he is looking for something
easy.

Tyler
