Here is something to note.
The scripts are stored in /etc/rc.d/init.d
The order that the scripts are exicuted is set in /etc/rc.d/rcX.d
where X is the runlevel, eg. rc5.d
The symbolic links are named in the order to exicute.
So S24pcmcia will execute before S25netfs
I would suggest leaving yourself a text message about how
you changed the link names.

When I installed RH8.0, in the time setup there was a GUI to
select activating the clock syncronization and which server to
use. Check in the date & time GUI to see if you can activate it.
