LTSP is not just an X session- it's a fully running linux kernel on the
workstation. It just boots over the network instead of from a local hard
drive... Which is why you'd need a virtual machine to run the code within
Windows.
If you simply want to connect to the server, then LTSP has options supporting
XDMCP (try the cygwin Xserver), Windows terminal services, and VNC.
