Does your kernel support vfat? Or is available as a loadable module?
Check your kernel logs for vfat support.
If not, look in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/fs for the vfat
module.
# insmod vfat
# mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
(make sure the floppy is in the drive)
