Re: [SLUG] Any mom&pop computer joints in Tampa area?

I was buying from Velocity Computers on Fowler consistently for most of this
year until they refused to sell me a CPU for my sister-in-law's computer
because it was 2 minutes to closing time (their predecesor used to be open
much later too). The droids started up about their new owners and policies,
and I told them to take their policies and shove it - that's no way to do
business! Really, who can work on their own computer during business hours?
Not me! I work on my systems nights and weekends, and I imagine most other
geeks are in the same boat!

In MY business, I don't turn loyal customers away. (Even if I ever had, I
would *certainly* not do it today, in this cr@ppy economy. They should have
been delighted to unload another $120 CPU).

I have a good friend who runs Custom Built Computers in Brandon. They don't
jack sprat about Linux, but their inventory is pretty solid. My only major
gripe with them is that they sell ONLY Intel chips (apparently due to an
exclusive agreement). Boy, I'd love to see Intel busted on anti-trust
grounds for THAT!

There's also a place on Bloomingdale in Brandon (3 miles west of 301 on the
south side of the road, next to a Big Lots). Can't recall the name, but they
were the ones I bought my sister-in-law's new Athlon XP CPU from.

Let me know! (I'm sure you will!)
