make sure hotplug is installed and working. Also, you'll need to make
sure support is enabled in your kernel. For better information, check
out the gentoo-laptop chat room on IRC. the server to go to is listed on
the Gentoo web site. Thankfully, my HP came right up. Although I haven't
gotten wifi working yet.

Subject: [SLUG] Gentoo

I am trying to install Gentoo on my laptop, but it does not recognize my

pcmcia card, which is my only network connection for the network. It is
totally dark, like the socket itself is not there.

Any clues? I am using the basic livecd.
