Sort of. It's got nothing to do with the 11g spec, but the Broadcom 11g
radio can indeed be programmed to transmit and receive on frequencies
other than 2.4GHz. As I understand it the FCC is "uncomfortable" with
making the programming information public, for that reason. And since
these devices must receive FCC certification to be sold in the US...
that's only a rumor I've heard though.

As for interfering with military radio communication, I doubt this
particular issue is a concern for them at all. It's nothing new, anybody
can build/modify a radio to transmit on whatever frequency is desired. I
wouldn't be surprised if misusing military frequencies was a felony
though.
