On a Debian box, you can set the parameters for klogd in
/etc/init.d/klogd. Edit the file and add:
KLOGD="-c 4"
Restart it and only Kernel Errors or greater/worse will be sent to the
console.

/dev/xconsole to /dev/tty8 in my syslog.conf file.
