The SX270 has SATA drives using Intel's ICH5 SATA controller. There's
currently no support in any of the Red Hat 9 kernels for this, so you're out
of luck. The best thing to do is use a PATA drive for now, and wait to use
SATA until the next set of Red Hat OS releases.

Subject: SATA and RH 9 Woes

Hi Folks,

I hope that you are well. We have recently purchased a Dell Optiplex GX
270 with a 120GB SATA disk. RH 9 seems to not recognize this drive and
doesn't allow me to proceed with a successful installation of Linux.

Any ideas on how to resolve this.

    Cheers,

    Aly.
