[SLUG] Difference in BSD and Linux

Hi All

Since I know how sensitive several are in relation to Linux and BSD lets not
start a flame war over this question. Lets keep this serious.

One can look at Linux and BSD as Kernels and distributions.

Lets look at these as Kernels.

SOC has indirectly posed a question that Stillman answered of the cuff by
stating that there are four kernels. Knowing that RMS is principally
interested in GNU what I suspect he is saying is that the four kernels of
Linux, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, and NetBSD are interchangeable or could be made
interchangeable.

My question is to what degree are they interchangeable for a desktop [NOT a
server or router] box? Exactly how difficult would it be for say a RMS to use
any one of the four kernels is say a Mandrake or a Red Hat?

Thanks

Frank
