Here is the output you asked for. This was a fresh install using
existing partitions from 9.1. Or at least that is what I thought :) I
had done. I backed up my home dir and formated all the partitions and
started from scratch. When I looked for the kernel I used the search
option from a GUI menu in the software install/uninstall program. I
could scroll down to the file itself but the search produced nothing.
I am using ext2 file system. My laptop uses GRUB also and I have had no
problems with it rebooting. All entries in GRUB were put there by the
software at the install. I try not to play with things (edit stuff)
unless I am almost positive I know what I am doing. Is is possibly a
harddisk problem, its a maxtor 40 gig, but its only three years old?
