That process isn't a Zombie... The 'S' under STAT indicates
sleeping. If it was defunct (a zombie), it would show 'Z'.
man ps for more info.

If you press Alt-F5 (or Ctril+Alt+F5 under X), you'll switch
to that console.

As other have mentioned, you'll have to modify /etc/inittab if you
really don't want a console on tty5.
