Basically what they are looking at is a program that will take the lats
and longs and at the very least give us coordinates that would overlay a
map of the county we work in and give us a street, intersection, or
nearby address. That way when a cell phone caller cannot tells us where
they are we can still find them and render the help they need. I have
been trying to get them over to Linux for three years but its an uphill
battle. When I was taking to my boss about the program he was looking
at he stated that it would be on a separate computer from our CAD so if
I can find one that would do the job in LINUX it would at least give
them a very good taste in stability, reliablity in an OS that all
Emergeny Services should be using. (at least that's my humble opinion)
If this is something you can do I will gladly give you my bosses name
and number. It would be a government contract (county) and may help
both of us. Maureen
