That's a common problem with DSL providers that are also telephone
companies: they tend to conceal standards of "reasonability" so that
they can change them at any time without having to inform anyone.
Likewise, Verizon has a bad reputation for bilking their customers,
particularly as applies to package deals. If they offer you a deal
involving DSL and unlimited long distance for one low-low rate, expect
it to be a lot of smoke and mirrors. I know of at least four people (my
father being one of them) that bought that line, read all the fine
print, found that they really did seem to be offering the deal that they
appeared to be offering . . . and ended up getting charged something
like two hundred dollars in domestic long distance.

You are reffering to Verizon Freedom package with DSL

I have this deal and with the exception of one minor problem I did not
have any smoke and mirrors as you called it.

My problem is the fact that I am one of the orginal GTE DSL customers
and still use the old Orckit Frame Relay system..... Most noticable for
there large Fujitsu speed port modems.

The problem came in when GTE sold ther orginal frame relay dsl division
right before the merger. It now handled by a company that verizon pays
called Advance Data Services corporation. They handled the billing for
my circut.... Why Verizon Online handles the isp side. Only problem was
that the circut was not discounted.... I took me a couple of months to
noticed it. But I called verzion online got to the billing
department, they then called Advance Data ( 3 way call) to tell them to
discount my circut price. Then Verizon gave me credits for the months
i over paid.....

No smoke and mirrors here.
