Could be the string it's looking for is subtly wrong, in a way that's hard
to catch with the naked eye; like maybe one too few "*-" pairs. Or maybe
it's asking for the font "Helvetica" when it should be asking for
"-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal-*-%d-*-*-*-*-*-*-*". Check out its X
resource file, to see what it's actually looking for.
