I have (well "had"... IBM has the laptop again) SuSE 9.1 from the Novell
DVD and a Roadrunner cable modem, but mine goes through a router, so I get
a "fake" address (192.168.1.*). I recommend you get a router too, as
nobody can access your machine directly through one. But anyhow, the
cable modem provides regular 10 Mbps ethernet, address supplied by DHCP.
Nothing special about that. You have to use DHCP, and RR may be picky
about your MAC changing (I've never had a problem with it).
