Hi,

I have a Sotec e-note laptop with Smart link 56k voice modem (I
think it is win-modem). It is working fine in W2000 with the drivers
installed. (I had to use windoz for 2 weeks at home that drived me
crazy.)

I downloaded the drivers for linux and installed it. The url is
http://tinyurl.com/4b2vs . The slamr module is running, and I
started the deamon by "$slmodemd --country=USA /dev/slamr0" command.
It created the device /dev/ttySL0 which I tried to use with kppp and
wvdial. Both did not work.

Here is my wvdial.conf

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
[Dialer Defaults]
Carrier Check = no
Modem = /dev/ttySL0
Baud = 460800
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ISDN = 0
;Dial Command = ATX3DT
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = 98640765
Username = xxxxxxxx
Password = xxxxxxxx
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And here is the output of that

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
root@darkstar:~# wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.53
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT98640765
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATDT98640765
NO DIALTONE
--> No dial tone.
--> Disconnecting at Wed Sep 22 18:35:29 2004
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

When I change the dial command to ATX3DT (dont wait for dial tone),
I got the following error:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
root@darkstar:~# wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.53
--> Initializing modem.

--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATX3DT98640765
--> Waiting for carrier.

--> Sending: ATX3DT98640765

--> Sending: ATX3DT98640765

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Tevfik
