Not to be argumentative (my apologies), but ...

1) This looks to be a PC/desktop migration, not server, plus

2) I didn't know Microsoft had _any_ products in the high-end server
    market?

HP is doing more for Linux on the desktop/portable front than IBM right
now. HP, unlike IBM and most PC OEMs, seems to be more conscience on
what Tawainese manufacturers they are buying their notebooks from, and
looking for Linux comaptibility.

On the server-end, despite co-developing IA-64 with Intel (IA-64 was
designed to have some HP-PARC compatibility as well as IA-32/x86), HP is
doing more to advance Linux/x86-64 at the "high-end server."

I'll know IBM is serious about Linux "on the desktop" when change their
stance on their notebook purchases and support, as well as when they
Freedomware SmartSuite. So far, IBM's Linux stance is completely on the
server/services side only. While that's a good start, IBM still cares
about their non-Linux marketshare.

Hence why many IBM AIX/Power customers are getting "raked over the
coals" for buying HP Linux/x86-64 solutions like the Proliant DL585.
