Have you tried booting any livecds? I know it sounds crazy, since they
tend to be so memory intensive, however I have successfully booted a
laptop with 32MB RAM with a morphix cd containing TWM and
QTparted in order to set up a swap partition in order to perform a
Debian install. I was amazed that it worked. Using a GUI partition
editor might seem like shooting for the stars, but it's not beyond the
realm of possibility.
