Pete,

When my mother can install and use Mepis it is pretty much point and
click. She not a techie though she does handle tech support for a
piece of software that her company makes. She is the type of person
that you teach her the program she an expert in it but nothing else.
Left a mepis cd in a machine that had no OS that I had just finished
repairing . it was out in the front room hooked up to her monitor etc.
so she calls my cell and I told her just to use that machine. that all
she had to do was turn on the machine wait for the cd boot then told her
where to get to the install program. will quickly install mempis she
reboot and called me again saying how easy that was.

So out of 9 out 10 machines it is point and click. Pete you just happen
to have the rare exception the 10 th machine the one where it does not
want to play nice.

Get over it and try something else

there is only a dozen or so spin debian spinoffs that are ultra gui
friendly. Why dont you call Micheal Robertson get him to dontate copies
of Linspire. He is a pretty generious man.
