The funniest thing is that my original, _off-list_ reference to the phrase "golden rule" wasn't anything as the subject suggested.
I merely stated that if someone feels strongly about something, I will accomodate.
Unfortunately, not only did that not help, but no matter how nice I was off-list after my first 2 responses, a resolution seemingly was not wanted.
Again, I left to spare the list of this, and I quietly let the "blame" stick to me.

That's beyond the clear and utter _lack_ of "objectivity" in the suggestion of what is "annoying" or not.
I don't go around bitching and moaning about the posting formats, general attitudes or other, non-technical non-sense I see coming from the same, select people over and over.
It's not my place to do so, especially not given my volume.
At most, it's really the right of the silent majority -- directly and not on behalf of them by anyone else.
Unfortunately, the ones who complain about me the loudest seem to be the same ones who are guilty of the same.

And worst of all, they pretend to be speaking from the silent majority, when the silent majority just wants _all_ parties to stop the non-sense.
And that's why I left.

I personally hold myself to a much higher standard than I expect from others.
I do this because I regular transgress against others, regardless of intent, and I hope I can be forgiven.
Anyone who knows me knows that I do take requests and accomodate.
In fact, it usually knocks people back when I do, because they assume I'm stubborn, pigheaded and otherwise "non-conforming" in my technical viewpoints.

Of course, I can't do anything about the select people who have the attitude of "Who the Fsck does this Bryan Smith guy think he is?"
I can only ignore it and not respond, which I'm really trying to do.
I post my knowledge which I leave at face value.
If you don't like it, then ignore it.
After all, if it's worthless, the it has no value and just laugh at a guy who wastes his time showing off his collective stupidity.

Or you can join the "holier than Bryan Smith" crowd and be just as annoying.
And the list will suffer for all.
And I'll take all the balme, because I'm the only guy who has the integrity to openly admit he is an a-hole at times.
I don't just point fingers at someone else or use what they do to excuse myself to take the heat off of me.

Which is a lessoned to be learned in this post-Enron et al. mess - because everyon has their day of reconcillation.
