I'm pretty sure I hit the Shift key five times in succession VERY rarely
-- like three times, ever -- while using Windows. I wouldn't think that
would satisfactorily answer this. There certainly wasn't ever any icon
appearing and disappearing, else I would have tracked the problem down
quickly, I'm sure.
I've kinda resolved myself to just forever thinking it was some kind of
problem with Windows 98 (this was a '98 machine that had this problem:
Win2k did not) not having exactly the right drivers, or something like
that. I don't really know what made me think of this oddity again,
today, but I figured I might as well share it with everyone while I'm at
it, and see if some explanation that seems to adequately cover the
circumstances might arise.
