nevermind, this did the trick and it took 5 minutes to install.

I didn't try out the x86_64 version as the 32 bit worked so well. whatever
anyone does, don't mess with the packman stuff. messed up and convoluted rpm
dependencies. I got packman's packages to work about 6 months ago after 3
hours of work, but it was choppy and I had DMA enabled.
