Good suggestions. Also, place your cable modem and router/node attached
to the cable modem on a UPS, to avoid down time. I have a dynamic IP
address I typically keep for 3-6 months (changed several times during
last hurricane season). To check a service remotely, telnet /port is
what I typically use. "Grc" https://www.grc.com/ "Shields up" will port
scan the first 1055 ports.
