Hi Pete
The way I keep things backed up is I back up all my mozilla stuff in a
folder on a second drive and then (Bookmarks, Local Folder, address book
etc) and do that at least once a week. Then every once in a while I 'll
burn a CD of whatever is near and dear on my backup drive. You can go
into the backed up folders and change permissions to suit your taste and
I do the whole thaig using GUI and mouse. Good thing as I'm not a young
geek(grin). Anyway I've managed to keep everything through using
Mandrake, debian woody, fedora core 2 and several versions of Mepis so I
am speaking from experence. In support of Mepis I have found it works
pretty darn good with newer hardware. My wife is running a P-4 HP Vectra
with 128mb rdram and I am running an asus amd-64 3200mhx cpu and 1 gig
of ddrsdram. When I try to use Mepis on some older challenged boxen I
don't get near as good results. I live in a neighborhood of old retirees
(I'm one myself)and fix problems on their windows machines and there are
many, so I see both sides. I have been running Linux in one flavor or
another for 2 & 1/2 years and have never had a virus and only a couple
of system hangs(both my fault). I have an old windows 98 box on the
bench that I use to download and burn windows programs and drivers and
my wife keeps me company playing card games as I haven't been able to
get her favorite games running on her HP. I havent had the time as I am
too busy killing viri and such on windows machines. Happy holidays to
all. Maurice (maury)
