I have always used Centronics to SCSI. One thing about this type of
cable is they are short in comparison to Centronics to DB-25, so your
scanner will have to be really close to the box. Since you describe the
port on the Adaptec card as "wide" I would say its a safe bet that its a
50. The hooks lock the cable in place vice using screws. Computer
Buyers Warehouse has a wall full of the Centronics to SCSI cables. I
have used 2940U's and Linux to hook up many different scanners, for
Orthodontic practices, and they work very well and are extremely
reliable.
