Examine the mommy board and keyboard connectors (down in there) with
a magnifying glass and lots of light for anything that can cause a short.
(hair wire, bent pin or whatever)
Are you sure you went into the BIOS SETUP and enabled USB support and
selected USB Keyboard support = ON, or some such?
AS A TEST, try a USB hub with it's own "wall wart" (power supply)
to power the keyboard to see if the USB keyboard will work normally.
