Win4Lin Home:
I think this might be good for the migratory challenges of home users (only
$29). I'm going to evaluate this product, but it has a 64MB limit?? I
already run the full version 5 with a 128MB limit and that's bad enough.
It's still incredibly fast and all, but it's still so little in the realm of
today's memory size limits.

VMware:
VMware's version 5 is out under free beta download. Here are some links. I
think the only success you'll have (need to fill out a form) is with the
first one.

Dear Win4Lin User,

We are very pleased to announce, Win4Lin Home
(http://www.win4lin.com/redirects/win4linhome.html), the newest member
of our Win4Lin product family. Win4Lin Home is the lightweight version of
our award-winning full Win4Lin 5 product.

Win4Lin Home is a great choice for single users who need to run a small
number of Windows applications on Linux, or for those customers with limited
budgets who need to purchase multiple copies.

For high performance implementations, please investigate Win4Lin 5 and other
product offerings at www.win4lin.com.

Win4Lin Home allows you to run your favorite Windows applications on the
Linux operating system in the fastest Windows 95/98/ME environment available
for Linux. You can now get all the advantages of running both Windows and
Linux simultaneously.

The stability, security, and administrative capabilities of Linux are now
partnered with the vast number of Windows applications on which you have
come to depend.

Win4Lin Home enables Linux users to run Windows programs concurrently with
their existing Linux applications without additional hardware or the need to
dual boot. Win4Lin Home dramatically improves productivity and saves you
money by reducing hardware and OS license upgrade costs.

Win4Lin Home is being offered at the low price of $29.99.

Since Win4Lin Home is intended for the home user and those users with more
limited requirements, it contains a powerful subset of the functionality of
our full Win4Lin 5 product.

The features that differentiate Win4Lin Home from Win4Lin 5 are:

- WinSock networking only, no VNET Support. This mainly limits the use of
the Network Neighborhood and Microsoft Exchange, consistent with the
requirements of more limited users
- Memory limit of 64MB. This will somewhat limit the number of applications
that can efficiently be run simultaneously, also consistent with the
requirements of more limited users.
- The purchase price of Win4Lin Home can be applied to a purchase of full
Win4Lin.

Like our full Win4Lin 5 product, Win4Lin Home supports all Linux
distributions including Fedora Core 3. For more information see
instructions at http://www.netraverse.com/support/docs/kernel_patching.html
