Hrm, it's still not entirely clear to me what you want.
Do you have a windows/linux dual-boot PC and want a single partition
that can be read by both OSes? This does not require Samba. The FAT
32 partition you created should be all you need.
OR
Do you want to share these files over the network with Windows PCs?
Samba is the best solution here, but you didn't need the seperate FAT
32 partition.
OR
Do you need both? Then you need both the partition and Samba.
