I'm using the "Hoary" release of Ubuntu right now, and it's really
coming along, it might fill the "user-friendly Debian" niche a tad
better in a few months.

Project Utopia works out of the box with the "Warty" release, which
was one of the original selling points for me, and Hoary includes a
Gnome 2.9 snapshot. March or April should be an interesting month for
Ubuntu and it's community seems to be growing quickly.
