I've found the solution after digging around awhile. Anyone with
SuSe9.1 who wishes to enable the same thing I've been working on check
out the following link...

It describes the solution which is only applicable to SuSe 9.1. This is
one of the really irritating things about SuSe that I didn't really see
in RH. They frequently change the defaults from KDE and then
relocate/modify the mechanism for changing the default to a Yast related
file. So you can't get help for the problem without finding specific
instruction from another SuSe user / SuSe list / SuSe.

Thanks for everyone's help. Typically "xhost +localhost" would provide
the solution I was looking for.
