It's really not that hard to setup. I have zope + plone setup on my
laptop now, and it took only a few (30?) minutes to get it working. I
think it's more practical because it's a really nice web application
framework, with a model-view-control design. It comes with templates,
database access, and, well, a just plain good design.

PHP + MySql doesn't provide templates, and doesn't encourage MVC
design. You can get a template library for it, of course, but why do
that when zope and plone already exist? Granted I haven't looked into
PHPNuke very much, but from what I've seen of it, it has a less
professional feel than plone.
