It came to be that I was in Clearwater today, working as a programmer
for a certain organization, working until six was I.
As it would stand, I needed a ride to the St. Pete meetng, something
that usually is not required. Thanks to my friend Chris Hotchkiss
(Chotchki), I was able to attend the meeting.
Thus, at six o'clock or so, Chotchki calls me and says he's running a bit late.
At six thirty seven, he called and asked if there was a certain
landmark near where I was. I thought I was talking to mario, for some
reason, and that mario was asking me where the St. Pete meeting was. I
believe Chotchki found this amusing. Or he thought I was more insane
than normal.
So, finally Chotchki gets there. Off we go, to get partially lost in
clearwater. Risking our life and limb at the hands of Scientologists,
we managed to brave it to St. Pete,
and get to the Downtown area. Chotchki drives like a little old lady,
which he admits is true.
Aftering driving around a bit, we spotted Chad Perrin's car, which is
very noticeable and bright red. We found a parking spot, and started
walking to find the building with which the meeting was held.
As we were walking along the sidewalk, some mandman in a white SUV honks at us.
That madman was none other than Mario. At this point, Chotchki goes
back to his car to get his wallet. Mario and I approach the door of
the building, which has a friendly sign that reads "SLUG Here" or
somesuch, and has a phone number on it. The door is locked, so Mario
calls the number.
Meanwhile, Chotchki returns, and says he forget to bring his wallet.
He added "I had better drive like a little old lady on the way home",
or some such.
J.J., the friendly Slugger that provided the meeting place, arrives
and opens the door for us.
We arrive, and notice a gaggle of Slugs:
* Aaron
* Nate (Mr. Anderson)
* Bill Lancaster
* Jack Frost
* Ghetto Chad
* Tina the Spoonyspork
* Pat Burke and Kay
* Aaron's friend Chris.
* Peter the Alchemist
In addition to the already mentioned:
* J.J. the Saint
* Mario the Madman
* Chotchki
* Myself
There were some other people, but I didn't get their names.
There was cupcakes, cinamon twists, brownies, and veggies (with ranch
dressing) at the meeting. As well as coffee. The networking wasn't
working, but that is a minor issue. We didn't ever have networking at
the library.
The were various funny conversations, not all of them having to do
with linux. Chad's bean herritage was again brought up.
Mario was like, drunk or something. He blamed the sugar, but we didn't buy it.
I was quite happy to see Nate, Bill, and Jack, as I hadn't seem them
in several meetings.
It was a truly grand meeting, with quite a lot of merriment.
It looks like St. Pete Slug will continue meeting at J.J's office
(Sterling Research).
So let's give a good cheer to both J.J. and Sterling Research.
And of course, to Aaron too.
I'd also like to thank Aaron for driving myself (and Peter ) home.
