Re: [SLUG] Another SUSE Question: setting up an install server

Just one Thinkpad. I thought it might go smoother if I had downloaded the
install media overnight 1st, given how slow the SUSE mirrors have been lately.
It also seems silly to burn 5 CDs and shuffle them during the install when I
have another machine to install from (but since I wasn't sure I could network
install SUSE I downloaded the CD isos not the DVD).

After trying the SUSE boot disk I found the HTTP option, so I used that on the
same directory of files I deleted. It's chugging away right now; seems happy.

The advantage of HTTP over NFS is that I can look at the access log to see
what the installer is trying to read and if there are any '404's.

I did the same thing for a Fedora core 4 install recently. FC4 didn't impress
me on the Thinkpad G41. It missed a lot of the hardware. I've heard that
SUSE is especially good at detecting laptop hardware, I guess I will find out
soon.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
