The only thing you need to do is to change fstab to not use labels or at least
the original install will get confused, before you make the new install.
(I've never had a need for partition labels so I simply replace each label
with the /dev/hda1 notation.)

This way I've had something like 8 different distro's and O/S's under grub.
You can have up 64 partitions so get started... : )

To keep things simple in those kinds of setups I share the swap and only have
two partitions per O/S. Of course you could do it just as well with one.
