I'd be careful with that. When you change certain configuration settings
(usually a new driver) Windows will save the previous configuration. If
that driver crashes the computer or prevents proper operation (like a bad
video driver giving you a blank screen), the LKGC can be a good thing.

BUT, if you didn't change anything, using the LKGC option may roll back the
system to an unknown state. This can cause more problems than it solves and
create quite a bit of confusion.

I'd check the event log and see what driver and/or service is bombing.
Versions of Windows based on the NT code base (NT/2000/XP) are actually
pretty stable, except for the drivers. Good hardware and good drivers make
for good stability. But since NT runs the drivers below the Hardware
Abstraction Layer (ring 0), any flaw will crash the whole system. It's very
rare for an application to crash the OS, but bad drivers or bad hardware
will nail you.
